He is known for the Khayal style of singing and for his popular interpretations of devotional music (bhajans and abhangs). Bhimsen Joshi belongs to the Hindustani Classical Music tradition of the Kirana gharana.

 Ustad Vilayat Khan was an Indian classical sitar player (28 August 1928-13 March 2004). He is credited with creating and improving gayaki ang (an effort to imitate the sound of the human voice) on the sitar.

            Ravi Shankar (born April 7, 1920, Benares [now Varanasi], India-died December 11, 2012, San Diego, California, U.S.), Indian musician, player of the sitar, composer, and founder of the National Orchestra of India, who was influential in stimulating Western appreciation of Indian music.
